National Hot Dog Day

National Hot Dog Day – Hot Dog Culture

The hot dog is embedded in American culture and there is no denying that it is a favorite food across the U.S. Which is why we are excited to celebrate National Hot Dog Day on July 19th at Love Honda. When you think hot dogs, there are two cultural traditions that always come to mind and they are:

Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest

The most popular competitive eating contest in the U.S, this annual competition is held on the Fourth of July at Nathan’s original restaurant at Coney Island in New York. Takeru Kobayashi and Joey Chestnut have both increased public attention to this event with their ever increasing number of hot dogs eating in 10 minutes. If you’ve never watched this event, we suggest you change that!

Oscar Mayer Wienermobile

First created in 1936, this cultural icon has been able to produce smiles from kids and adults, no matter where it goes. Since the Wienermobile’s creation, it has had many variations but its purpose is still the same – visiting stores, schools, orphanages, children’s hospitals, and participating in parades and festivals. We hope this is a tradition that never dies!

If you’re celebrating National Hot Dog Day, come to Love Honda and celebrate with us! We’ll be eating some traditional styles hot dogs: hot dog, bun, and mustard!
